3 Tips to Make Your AM Routine Faster

The morning rush is always a problem - many of us wake up, hit the snooze button 2 or 3 times then end up scrambling to figure out what to wear and still make it out the door in time. Most times this doesn't bode well for our outfit looking well put together. I plan my outfits for the week on Sunday nights during commercial breaks of my favorite 9 PM tv show (this does not work for "Game of Thrones" but does work for "The Walking Dead"). However, having been me for all these years, I know I am the OCD exception and not the norm. The 3 tips below can help get you on track for an unhurried and fashionable morning.

  • Check your work/after-work schedule. Meeting with the Big Boss? Traveling between work sites? After-work birthday toast for your BFF? Check out your planner/phone calendar (PLEASE tell me you use one, if not both!) so that your outfits are well-planned and well-presented.
planners and organizers come in all sizes, patterns and colors. Buy one!
  • How's the weather? Your phone has a weather app - use it. Don't end up wearing your best suede heels when there's an 80% chance of thunderstorms. Open-toed shoes might not be the best option for a chilly Winter's day. And a quick peep at the weather will help you layer-up effectively for those 74 degree Fall afternoons that start as 45 degree mornings.
Your weather app is your friend!
  • Now, choose your outfit. Pick everything - top, bottom, belt, shoes, jewelry. If you have a chair or a bench in your room, lay the outfit out there to make sure it looks the way you want. Or hang it all up on one hanger on your closet door or hook, and place the shoes underneath. You'll be far less stressed in the morning if you go to bed already happy with the next day's look.

Achieving a morning routine that is less stress is not as difficult as you might think.  Try my simple tips for a few weeks and let me know how it works for you.  Wishing you a stylish and stress-free work week!
