Brunch-n-Style: March Madness a la Mad Max

Brunch-n-Style" is an event hosted by eLevated style studio where guests are asked to attend brunch dressed in a specific style theme. How the ladies wear that style is completely up to individual interpretation but the more creative the style, the more attention it catches.

The March Brunch was held at Blackwall Hitch in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. Featured on the brunch style menu was "March Madness a la Mad Max". When I chose the theme, I had just attended a talk by Ruth E. Carter, the formidable designer responsible for the costumes in the movie "Black Panther". I hadn't yet seen the movie but the costumes shown during the talk were futuristic yet distinctly tribal; in a word they were spectacular. Once I saw "Black Panther" I was inspired to come up with something different for brunch - a theme that was futuristic, fly, powerful, sexy and tough. Like a biker girl gang meets "the Matrix" with fabulous shoes, hair and makeup. Tina Turner's role in "Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome" popped into my head, and I knew I had found the essence of the March Brunch-n-Style.

As a personal stylist, I really love to see women express their individuality through their fashion choices and how they decide to style themselves in those fashions. And eLevated style studio's fashionable friends did not disappoint!

Below are a few of my favorite looks from the day

The Fashionistas below were chosen for the top 3 best outfits. Congrats to Aukeidra (first fashionista on the right) for winning the prize for best outfit!!!!

and a special shout out to local DC designer Cedi of Cedi Collections (follow him on IG @cedicollectiondc) who custom created my one-of-a-kind tunic which paid respect to "Black Panther" and #WakandaForever
