My #StyleDiary: Summertime Shine Style Entry

Summer 2018 in the Northern Hemisphere officially began with the Summer Solstice on June 21. The early days of summer are my FAVE DAYS in the Washington, DC area - the weather is just warm enough to show off your pedicure on a regular basis and the oppressively humid dog days of late July/August yet to hit. Summer is when my social calendar really takes off; there is always some event - outdoors or indoors - to attend, and as your favorite Chief Fashionista, I take full advantage of ANY reason to show off my summertime shine!

Keep reading for a few of my June fun fashion hits...

Early summer is the best time to get out and about in the streets of DC. Nothing says comfy and stylish like a maxi dress. Enjoying a Saturday walk with my family was a literal breeze in this dress by Aqua; I cannot get enough of the bright rainbow colors and the wrap detail gives it just enough sexy without being too much.

I also enjoyed a lunchtime stroll at the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden where I took these fun pics in another comfy and stylish 'fit, a blue floral jumper. A belt and heels dressed it up for the office, but it is easily dressed down with flat sandals or a girly pair of sneakers.

June is graduation season and in my household we celebrated my oldest son's promotion from 8th grade. I wore a black and white striped maxi skirt with a cropped top (because I am not in my 20s it was a modest crop top but cropped all the same) for a not too dressy, mom of a future high-schooler look.

Summertime is made for outdoor happy hours and in my city there are plenty of amazing views and fly venues where you can post up for a stylish pic with a cool drink in your hand.

And sometimes the best summer events happen indoors, whether it's celebrating a GGF's birthday at a local restaurant with dinner and drinks (although, at the point in the night where this pic was taken, we were parking lot pimpin' lol!)...

Or attending "What She Said" at the W Hotel, an empowering discussion with women business owners in the restaurant/bar business...

Or having the most AMAZING time at the RAMMY Awards Gala - presented by the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington and celebrating the DC Food and Restaurant business. I was surrounded by so much great food, amazing liquor, the best music and beautiful people who love what they do...
